Eve no Jikan Gekijouban - Time of Eve the movie

Eve no Jikan (Time of Eve) Movie

Yes I am. Very much, in fact. (No, no perverted comments on the pictures here… this time)

This is basically what this anime is all about

The character design is also very very well done, just like the animation quality

This movie is absolutely wonderful. Before you read this, please note that this post may contain spoilers. I can absolutely recommend you watching this animated movie.

The story revolves around Rikuo and his android Sammy, as well as his friend Masaki and several other characters.

The story begins with Rikuo checking the logs of his android, later revealed to have the name Sammy. It contains one entry that states “Are you enjoying the time of EVE?”. He tracks down the way Sammy moved using the log together with his friend, Masaki, to find out where she went.

Surprised, they find out Sammy has been going to a cafe. The store’s rule states to not discriminate between humans and robots. Normally, androids have a ring above their heads to make it easy to distinguish them from humans. This ring is turned off in the cafe so when they first enter it, they do not realize how many androids are there. Additionally, they behave just like normal people.

You can guess that they will get shocked a couple of times while being there. They both, especially Masaki, find it hard to accept that the androids act like normal humans in the cafe. This movie displays the possible problems and merits of having androids in our society in a very good way. It also raises the question whether androids should be treated the same as humans or not and suggests an answer to this question with the story. If androids speak like humans, have desires and even emotions, including love and embarrassment, as well as their own will (at least partly), can they really be treated as objects any longer?

This movie takes a closer look at this question and attempts to give an answer to it.

Eve no Jikan gets 5/5 Kurisus:

I remember watching this ONA per episode. It was one of those few noticed back then. So if anyone missed the episodes then by all means watch the theatrical version.
