Steins;Gate episode 1

Picture of Makise Kurisu

First of all: This heavily reminded me of Chaos;Head. The first episode was made in a very similar fashion, with a lot of questions and mysteries coming up. The main character, Okarin (Okabe Rintaro), is, just like the main character of Chaos;Head, highly delusional and downright weird.

Okarin had some weird stuff happening to him when he went to some kind of press conference about an “invention of the century”, a time machine. Pointing out all that work is basically just a copy of some fictional text, he gets dragged out of the room by a cute girl (picture above), namely Makise Kurisu, who Okarin accuses of being with the “agency”. That appears to be just another one of his delusions, though.

Being confronted with the fact he was talking on his turned off cellphone and thus, talking to himself, he runs away. Afterwards, while talking to Shiina Mayuri, his childhood friend, they both hear a pretty creepy shriek of pain. Okarin tells Mayuri to leave the building, goes upstairs again to take a look and finds Makise Kurisu dead on the floor. He leaves the building and sends a mail to someone informing him that “someone was stabbed”. The moment he sends it, he suddenly finds himself on the street without any people around.

It is later revealed that, in reality, the guy who held the press conference got cold feet and never actually showed up.

It turns out that the “someone” he sent the mail to was none other than his friend Hashida Itaru. When he checkes the dates, he finds out his message arrived 5 days in the past. The moment he realized that, Okarin spots Makise Kurisu standing around safe and sound.

Looking at how Chaos;Head turned out, it’s fairly safe to assume that after watching just the first episode, you’ll have no idea what the fuck is (really) going on at all. What seems real might be just a delusion and what seems to be a delusion might be real. The next episodes will likely cause even more questions to be raised and also confuse the viewer even more.

Anime series I'll probably start watching this season

You are friggin' kidding me!

A rather small list, since there doesn’t seem to be much interesting stuff. Feel free to make suggestions in the comments.

  • Steins;Gate: Some people manage to build a device to send messages in the past. Much potential for a confusing and thrilling plot.
  • The World Only God Knows II: The first season had a good mix of comedy, romance and absurdness. Also, there was a bad cliffhanger, so I hope this will turn out as good as the first season.
  • MARIA†HOLIC 2 – Alive: Again, good comedy and absurdness mix. There are also delicious traps!

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? episode 11

Tomonori stops Haruna from kissing Ayumu awake

Sera, Haruna and Tomonori gather the pieces of Ayumu’s body to get him to revive. He does re-attach his body parts, but doesn’t wake up. Haruna tries to take this opportunity to kiss him (awake). Tomonori realizes this chance as well, stops Haruna and tries to kiss him herself. Meanwhile, Sera “mistakenly” gives Ayumu a poison instead of medicine, which makes him twitch for a couple of moments but doesn’t wake him up.

Haruna calls her instructor (and top-notch yandere suspect) from Virie to help her. Instead of just waking Ayumu up, Ms. Yandere puts Haruna asleep so her consciousness can get into Ayumu’s to fix his ego and get him back.

After this, they go after Eu and Mysterious Zombie X. To defeat him, Ayumu and Haruna transform together (this magiclad girl outfit is sorta creepy) and use this lame mysteltin kick joke, which make Haruna and the weird black mist Mr. X uses fly away entirely.

Eu opened a gate to the underworld in the sky. A huge blood-crying (and ugly) face appears which spawns whales in suits floating around (really? Couldn’t they think of anything less rediculous?). Sera, having drunk Eu’s blood (episode 10), has to play on a special violin to get them to disappear, but apparently can’t do it alone as the “enemies” (they didn’t really do anything, except floating around) are too numerous. The Vampire-Ninja gang shows up once again to help Sera (everyone is wearing maid uniforms). That song was pure awesomeness! Lastly, Ayumu beats the shit out of Mr. X, after which Mr. X asked Eu to finally kill him, as he cannot bear to live any longer, a wish that Eu grants him.

Ayumu desperately tries to get Eu to stay with him and after a lengthy speech she finally talks! Eu does sound cute but the voice doesn’t really suit her imho. Also, the moment she spoke, she also kinda lost her “mysteriousness”. As far as I am concerned, I liked the mute Eu more.

Next episode will be the obligatory swimsuit episode. Prepare for fanservice overload.

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? episode 10

Sera says: "Did you make me bathe in the water you used?" to Ayumu

There isn’t really much progress in this episode, but it has it’s moments. Sera, Haruna and Ayumu search for Eu, but are not able to find her. Ayumu then meets Mysterious Zombie X in front of a convenience store. To get Eu to ascend from the underworld again, he intends to kill Ayumu, Haruna and/or Sera (Haruna and Sera happened to drop by to get some more pudding).
After the Vampire-Ninja gang foiled this plan, Ayumu gets his legs re-attached the wrong way around and Haruna has to carry him home.

The next day, Tomonori (seriously, what was her real name again?) finds out where Mysterious Zombie X lives and tells Ayumu to go there first. Sera finds Eu standing motionless in front of the entrance of the house and gets severely wounded by Mysterious Zombie X in an attempt to get to her. Eu just feeds Sera a drop of her blood and leaves with him. When Ayumu and Haruna go to Mr. X, they find him preparing dinner and he just invites them to join him and Eu, which they actually do (wtf?).

The Vampire-Ninja gang shows up and refuses to join the fun. Before fleeing with Eu, Mr X. casts a “parasitic time bomb” on Harunas head. At the end of the episode, having failed to defuse the bomb, Ayumu takes it over, jumps out of the window (a couple of hundred meters at least, judging by how small the city was while he was falling) and gets blown up.

Random Album: Shadows of Light

This is a test to see how the player integrates into the blog. Regardless of this being a simple test, I like the album very much.
