Sword Art Online

Apart from the beginning, the plot entirely takes place in a virtual reality game called “Sword Art Online”, hence the name of this series.

The story starts with Sword Art Online being released and lots of people buying it (analogy: Diablo3). Like many others, the protagonist, Kirito, logs into the game right away and stays in there for hours. However, when they try to log out again, the players notice the button is missing from the game menu.

Asuna, the hottie of Sword Art Online

This is Asuna. She is the main bishoujo of this anime. Main weapon: fork

Shortly after the Kirito notices, still believing it’s a glitch or the logout button is simply replaced, all the players get teleported to the “Town of Beginnings” where the GM and developer of the game tells them the harsh rules of that game world:

  1. If you die in the game world, the NervGear will kill you in the real world
  2. You cannot log out. The only way of getting out of the game is dying (at which point you die IRL) or clearing the game.
  3. Your avatar is basically the same as your real body
  4. Your real name is your ingame name

Sword Art Online: GM declaring death in game = death in real life

That’s an awfully nice way to put it. You don’t die, you just “retire”. I see.

The story itself is quite interesting. A litte irritating, however, is the fact that the story jumps several weeks between episodes. It doesn’t really feel like a flowing story, but rather like only a few dots are narrated.

So far, the story also follows a case-of-the-week-like manner, with the ultimate goal to clear the game and get out.

3.5/5 Kurisus:

Mayashimon Returns!

tl;dr: Moyashimon is back, as good as ever.

Trap Yuuki Kei and bunny girl Oikawa Hazuki

Does this count as yuri? Ah, never mind, it’s hot regardless

It’s been a long time! Moyashimon is back and I am very glad to see nothing has changed in terms of art style, voice actors or enjoyability in general (Minami-Ke, anyone?).

Just like in the “original” Moyashimon, you gain a lot of (often useless) insight in how microorganisms (in this case mostly bacteria and yeasts) ferment foodstuffs to create things like soy sauce, miso, sake, beer and so on. It’s quite interesting and the information given (whenever I checked) was accurate.

Microbe complaining about what that homo sapiens is saying

Microbes complaining about what you say. Only in Moyashimon.

Now if you’re wondering why I even bothered to check: Since I am constantly dealing with sourdough because I bake all my bread myself, I am fairly interested in the microbiological processes that cause fermentation. Sometimes I also feel like trying new things out since the basic principle to ferment food is very simple and can easily be done at home (just like with sourdough).

Add to that a lot of comedy and character development (this time especially for Haruka) and you’ve got yourself an awesome show.

I give this series a solid 4/5 Kurisus:

Work!

So I finally got an apprenticeship this year and I even got it at the company I wanted to start at the most. I’ve been working here for about two weeks now and so far I can only say that I enjoy it very much. We (an awfully nice girl also started to work here with me) are given meaningful tasks (even though I imagine that being somewhat difficult since we essentially have no qualifications in this area) and it’s fun working on it.

The coworkers are also very nice and fun to work with (gotta watch what I say here, they might read it ;)). The atmosphere is rather informal, so you really feel at ease working here, which makes things very pleasant.

I am very much looking forward to the things that await me here.

So far, I give this place 5/5 Kurisus :)

New layout

Okay it’s not that much different from the old one. I still like this one more.

Changes apart from the obvious:

  1. HTML5
  2. CSS3 (no browser-specific stuff)

If your browser displays this website in a really weird way, you should probably update to the latest version or, if you did that already, use a proper browser to begin with. Even IE9 can display this correctly, so uninstall your netscape already.
